Self-service Business Intelligence is becoming very important: Usually the people who know what should be in a report or dashboard do not always have the technical skills to create these reports from scratch. Microsoft introduced PowerPivot, allowing power users to combine different data sources and build pivot tables on top of them in Excel.

However, to bring this from the personal BI to the corporate BI level, we need to take the data from a local Excel sheet to a central Analysis Server. Corporate reporting also requires reporting capabilities beyond the traditional pivot tables. In this course, we focus on building tabular models in Analysis Services 2012, extending these models with Data Analysis eXpressions (DAX), and delivering the data to end users with PowerView reports in SharePoint.

Students taking this course should have a basic knowledge of the SQL Server relational database and be familiar with Microsoft Excel and SharePoint. This course is offered in combination with the USP10BI course for those not familiar with Excel and SharePoint BI.
